LANIA FOUNDATION
The LANIA Foundation is a non-profit organization being developed with the purpose of creating a platform for integrated arts+STEM educational programs in collaboration with LabXchange at Harvard University and the Bernard L. Schwartz Center for Media and Education at Fordham University. LANIA programs and experiences will also be available to schools and cultural centers locally through institutional partnerships and through LANIA Centers in the US and internationally.
FOUNDER
LANIA is directed by Dr. Edward Bilous, Founding Director of the Center for Creative Technology at the Juilliard School and Artistic Director of the Future Stages Festival. He is an acclaimed composer and internationally recognized advocate for the arts in education. Our leadership team includes alumni of Stanford University, MIT, and Juilliard.
The Arts as Gateway to Learning
On LANIA, great work of music, dance, visual arts, and architecture become gateways into a multidimensional curriculum that reveals the links between diverse forms of knowledge. Interactive tools will enable learners to examine the works from multiple perspectives including, structure and design, the use of space and time, materials and technologies, cultural and historical context, and social-emotional resonance.
using ai to support personal learning
Advanced learning technologies will enable users to create personalized learning pathways that bridge arts and STEM topics. Along the way, AI tools will reveal how patterns and forces found at all levels of nature underlie many works of art, and how the arts inspired many scientific discoveries and achievements. Users will be invited to apply their newly gained insight to creative projects they can share with the LANIA community.
LANIA + LabXchange
LANIA and LabXchange will be linked. Users who wish to deepen their understanding of STEM concepts introduced on LANIA can enroll in special courses on LabXchange. Likewise, teachers and students working on LabXchange can enrich their STEM learning with related arts experiences on LANIA.
